"No. 2 Regulator"

"REGULATOR NO. 2" BY THE SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. IN THOMASTON,CT, CIRCA 1905-1920.  THE CASE IS MADE OF QUARTERED OAK SOLIDS AND VENEERS.  THERE IS PLAIN GLASS IN THE WOOD BEZEL AND DOOR.

THE 11" DIAL IS PAINTED WHITE AND HAS ROMAN NUMERALS, A SECONDS BIT AND SETH THOMAS WRITTEN ON THE DIAL.  THE PENDULUM HAS A WOOD ROD AND A BRASS BOB.

THE 8 DAY TIMEPIECE IS DRIVEN BY ONE BRASS WEIGHT.  THE MOVEMENT HAS MAINTAINING POWER.

"Black & Tan 2 Weight" 

AUSTRIAN 2 WEIGHT VIENNA REGULATOR WITH AN UNMARKED MOVEMENT, CIRCA  1860-1880.  THE BLACK AND TAN CASE IS MADE OF WALNUT SOLIDS AND VENEER.  THE FRONT DOOR COLUMNS HAVE CARVED TOPS AND BASES AND THE COLUMNS ARE FLUTED.  THERE IS A CARVED GARLAND ON THE BUILT IN CROWN.  THE 3 TOP FINIALS ARE REPLACEMENTS, THE LOWER 3 FINIALS ARE ORIGINAL.  THERE IS A FRAMED BLACK RECTANGLE ON THE BACK OF THE CASE.

THE WHITE 2 PIECE FIRED ENAMEL DIAL IS SIGNED, BUT HARD TO READ; I BELIEVE IT SAYS "EHRENFELD & HERZFELD" WIEN.  THE PENDULUM HAS A WOOD ROD AND A PLAIN BRASS BOB.  THE 2 PLAIN BRASS WEIGHTS ARE HUNG FROM BRASS PULLEYS.

THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

GRANDE SONNERIE 3 WEIGHT WALL CLOCK BY GUSTAV BECKER IN FREIBURG, GERMANY, THE MOVEMENT IS STAMPED WITH SERIAL #190426, DATING THIS CLOCK 1906-1917.  THE CASE MADE OF WALNUT SOLIDS  AND VENEERS.  THE COLUMNS ON THE FRONT DOOR HAVE CARVED TOPS AND SPOOLED BOTTOMS AND FLUTED CENTERS.  THE CROWN PIECE ALONG WITH ALL OF THE FINIALS ARE ORIGINAL.  THE BOTTOM OF THE CLOCK IS INCISED WITH A LEAF PATTERN.

THE DIAL CENTER, PENDULUM BOB AND ALL 3 WEIGHTS ARE ENGRAVED BRASS IN A MATCHING PATTERN.  THE PENDULUM ROD IS WOOD.  THE WEIGHTS ARE HUNG FROM BRASS ENGRAVED PULLEYS.  THE DIAL HAS A SILVERED CHAPTER RING THAT IS ENGRAVED WITH ROMAN NUMERALS AND FANCY ENGRAVING BETWEEN THE NUMERALS.

THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT STRIKES THE 1/4 HOURS ON ONE GONG AND STRIKES THE HOURS ON A SECOND GONG.

GERMAN R-A STYLE WALL CLOCK BY FRIEDRICH MAUTHE M.F.C. IN SCHWENNINGEN, GERMANY, CIRCA 1900-1925.  THE CASE IS MADE OF LINDENWOOD AND WALNUT VENEERS.  THE CASE HAS 2 SIMPLE SPOOLED COLUMNS; ONE ON EACH SIDE OF THE FRONT OF THE DOOR.  THE CROWN PIECE AND THE FINIALS ARE  OLDER REPLACEMENTS.

THE DIAL IS A WHITE FIRED ENAMEL 2 PIECE DIAL WITH ROMAN NUMERALS.  THE PENDULUM HAS A GRIDIRON ROD AND A BRASS SHELLED BOB WITH A WHITE FIRED ENAMEL  R-A CENTER.

 

THE 8 DAY SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

THIS IS A GERMAN BOX CLOCK MADE BY LFS "FURTWANGLER" IN THE BLACK FOREST, CIRCA 1920-1930.  THE CASE IS MADE OF OAK AND HAS CARVED FRETWORK ALONG THE SIDES OF THE GLASS IN THE DOOR, THERE IS ALSO A CARVED PIECE ON THE CREST.

THE OVAL DIAL IS SILVERED AND HAS PAINTED BLACK ROMAN NUMERALS AND MOON HANDS.  THE PENDULUM BOB IS BRASS.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

FRENCH WESTMINSTER BOX CLOCK IN A WALNUT VENEERED CASE, CIRCA 1930'S.  THERE ARE CARVINGS ON THE DOOR SIDES WITH STEP MOULDINGS.  THE OCTAGON DIAL IS SILVERED AND HAS ARABIC NUMERALS. THE OCTAGON CHROMED PENDULUM BOB ON A WOOD ROD IS VISIBLE THROUGH THE SIX PIECE CHROME LEADED BEVELED GLASS IN THE FRONT DOOR.

8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT PLAYS THE WESTMINSTER CHIMES ON THE 1/4 HOURS AND STRIKES THE HOUS ON TUNED RODS.

THIS IS "REGULATOR NO. 59-8" REISSUED BY THE E. HOWARD CLOCK CO. IN BOSTON IN THE 1970'S.  THE CASE IS SOLID WALNUT WITH BLACK HIGHLIGHTS.  THE CLOCK IS AN 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN TIMEPIECE.  THE WEIGHT IS HIDDEN BY THE WOOD PANEL ON THE BACK OF THE CASE.  THE UPPER FINIALS ARE TURNED AND THE LOWER FINIALS ARE CARVED.

THE DIAL IS PAINTED AND HAS ARABIC NUMERALS AND IS SIGNED E. HOWARD AND CO. BOSTON.  THE PENDULUM HAS A SILVER PAINTED WOOD ROD AND A SILVERED DAMASCENED BOB.

THIS IS A SETH THOMAS "REGULATOR NO.2", MADE IN THOMASTON, CT, CIRCA 1940-50.  THIS LATER MODEL HAS A SOLID WOOD BOTTOM.  THE 11" DIAL IS PAINTED AND HAS ARABIC NUMERALS, A SECONDS BIT AND IS SIGNED SETH THOMAS.  THE REFLECTOR RING INSIDE THE BEZEL IS PAINTED WHITE LIKE MOST OF THE LATER MODELS.

THE CASE IS QUARTERED OAK SOLIDS AND VENEERS.  THIS 8 DAY TRAPAZOID TIMEPIECE IS DRIVEN BY THE BRASS WEIGHT.  THE WOOD ROD PENDULUM HAS A BRASS BOB.  THERE IS A BEAT PLAQUE BELOW THE PENDULUM.  THERE IS A NICE SETH THOMAS LABEL INSIDE THE DOOR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CASE.

THE CASE IS MADE OF OAK.

THE FRONT DOOR HAS BLACK EDGED GLASS WITH A GOLD CIRCLE FRAMING THE DIAL.  THE 12" PAPER DIAL WITH ARABIC NUMERALS IS A REPRODUCTION.

THIS IS AN 8 DAY TIME ONLY MOVEMENT.  THERE IS A NICE LABEL ON THE BACK OF THE CLOCK.

E. HOWARD REISSUE MODEL #5 BANJO CLOCK, CIRCA 02/1977, SERIAL NUMBER 233. THE CASE IS HARD WOOD WITH A WALNUT STAIN.  THE DIAL IS PAINTED, HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND IS SIGNED "E. HOWARD" BOSTON.

THE TABLETS ARE REVERSE PAINTED GLASS.  THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT IS A TIMEPIECE.  THE CAST IRON WEIGHT ALSO HAS THE #5 CAST IT.  THE PENDULUM HAS A METAL ROD AND A BRASS BOB THAT IS VISIBLE THROUGH THE LOWER GLASS.

DANA BLACKWELL BECAME VICE-PRESIDENT OF HOWARD CLOCK PRODUCTS IN 1976 AND WAS THE DRIVING FORCE IN REISSUING SEVERAL HOWARD  CLOCKS.

THE BOTTOM 3 FINIALS ARE CARVED AND ORIGINAL AS ARE THE 3 PLAIN FINIALS ON TOP.  THE PENDULUM HAS A METAL ROD AND A POLISHED BOB.

THE MOVEMENT IS DATED 11/79.

THIS IS A LARGE GERMAN KEYHOLE STYLE R-A WALL CLOCK, CIRCA 1900-1910. THE CASE IS MADE OF WALNUT SOLIDS AND VENEERS.  THE FRONT OF THE DOOR HAS SPOOLED  1/2  COLUMNS GOING DOWN THE SIDES,  4 CARVED CORNER DECORATIONS ON THE DOOR AND 1/2 SPOOLED COLUMNS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE KEYHOLE THROAT.  THE CARVED CROWN PIECE  IS A REPRODUCTION.  THE 2 PIECE DIAL HAS A CELLULOID  ROMAN NUMERAL CHAPTER RING WITH RED FLEUR DIS LYS BETWEEN THE NUMERALS AND A BRASS EMBOSSED WITH FLOWERS CENTER.  THE GRIDIRON PENDULUM HAS A METAL ROD AND A BRASS BOB.  THERE IS A REGULATION PLAQUE BELOW THE PENDULUM.

THE MOVEMENT IS AN 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT THAT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.  THE MOVEMENT HAS A TRADEMARK THAT I AM NOT  FAMILIAR WITH,  ALONG WITH THE D.R. PATENT #147023.

IN SCHRAMBERG, GERMANY, CIRCA 1900-1910.  THE CASE IS MADE OF WALNUT SOLIDS AND VENEERS.  THE CROWN PIECE ALONG WITH THE FINIALS ARE REPLACEMENTS.  THE DIAL CENTER AND PENDULUM BOB ARE MATCHING IN A SUNBUST DESIGN.  THE PENDULUM BOB IS ON A METAL GRID IRON ROD.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND  ON A COILED GONG.

THE 12" PAPER ROMAN NUMERAL DIAL APPEARS TO BE AN EARLY REPLACEMENT DIAL.  THERE  IS A SECONDS BIT BELOW 12:00.

THE 8 DAY MOVEMENT IS DRIVEN BY 2 ORIGINAL WAFER STYLE WEIGHTS, IN THEIR ORIGINAL WOOD GRAINING.  THIS CLOCK IS JUST A TIMEPIECE.  THE MOVEMENT HAS A DEAD BEAT ESCAPEMENT WITH MAINTAINING POWER.  THE PENDULUM IS NEW; IT HAS AN ORIGINAL STYLE WOOD ROD AND A WATERBURY REPLACEMENT POLISHED BRASS BOB.  THERE IS A WATERBURY PORCELAIN BEAT PLAQUE BELOW THE PENDULUM.

IN BRISTOL, CT, CIRCA 1881-1900.  THE ROUND TOP CASE WAS ORIGINALLY HAND GRAINED THAT HAS BEEN STRIPPED OFF LONG AGO, AND NOW HAS A WALNUT COLOR FINISH.  THE ORIGINAL PAPER DIAL IS PAPER WITH ROMAN NUMERALS AND AN OUTSIDE ARABIC NUMERAL CALENDAR RING (SOMEWHAT DISTRESSED).  THE CAST PENDULUM IS VISIBLE THRU THE LOWER DOOR GLASS.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT IS A TIMEPIECE WITH A SIMPLE CALENDAR.

THIS IS A GERMAN BERLINER OR FREESWINGER MADE BY KIENZLE IN SCHWENNINGEN (BLACK FOREST) GERMANY, CIRCA 1890-1900.  THIS CLOCK IS ALL ORIGINAL INCLUDING THE FINIALS AND THE CROWN.  THE DIAL HAS A CREAM COLORED FIRED ENAMEL CHAPTER RING, WITH RED FLEUR DE LIS IN BETWEEN THE ROMAN NUMERALS, AND A BRASS EMBOSSED DIAL CENTER.  THE PENDULUM HAS A GRID IRON ROD WITH AN EMBOSSED BRASS BOB OF AN ANGEL.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.  tHE MOVEMENT IS MARKED "KIENZLE PRIMA DR PATENT #1256605, 1 MILLION"

THIS IS AN AUSTRIAN SINGLE WEIGHT WALL TIMEPIECE BY RESCH-GEBRUEDER (REMEMBER TRADEMARK), CIRCA 1870'S.  THE CASE IS BLACK AND TAN, WALNUT VENEER AND BLACK ACCENTS.  THE 2 PIECE ENAMEL DIAL HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND A SECONDS BIT, THE DIAL IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE WITH NO CRACKS OR CHIPS. THE WEIGHT, PULLEY AND PENDULUM BOB ARE ALL POLISHED AND LACQUERED BRASS.  THE FINIALS ALL APPEAR TO BE ORIGINAL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BOTTOM ONE.  SERIAL #96513.

THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT IS JUST A TIMEPIECE

THIS IS A LARGE 2 WEIGHT WALL CLOCK IN THE VIENNA STYLE, CA 1910-1920.  THE CASE IS MADE OF WALNUT VENEER AND LINDENWOOD.  THE CELULOID DIAL HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND RED FLEUR DE LYS BETWEEN MTHE NUMERALS AND A SECONDS BIT.  THE PENDULUM HAS A WOOD ROD AND A LARGE BRASS BOB.  THE WEIGHTS ARE POLISHED BRASS AND HUNG FROM BRASS PULLEYS.

THIS 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.  THERE IS NO TRADEMARK ON THE MOVEMENT, BUT IT DOES HAVE THE SERIAL #106670.

"Berliner"

THIS IS A GERMAN BERLINER OR FREESWINGER WALL CLOCK MADE BY THE JUNGHANS CO. IN SCHRAMBERG, GERMANY, CIRCA 1900-1920.  THE CASE IS MADE OF LINDENWOOD SOLIDS AND WALNUT VENEER.  THE CROWN PIECE AND FINIALS ARE REPLACEMENTS.

THE DIAL HAS A BEAUTIFUL EMBOSSED BRASS CENTER WITH A CELLILOID CHAPTER RING WITH ARABIC NUMERALS.  THE PENDULUM IS ALSO BRASS EMBOSSED OF A LADIES HEAD.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND CLOCK STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG. (CW)

 "Gothic Grande Sonnerie"

 

THIS IS AN AUSTRIAN GRANDE SONNERIE WALL CLOCK IN A GOTHIC STYLE CASE.  THE HIGH QUALITY MOVEMENT WAS SOLD BY K. KONIGSBAUER IN VILLACH, AUSTRIA, CIRCA 1870’S. THE CASE IS A BASIC GOTHIC STYLE THAT I THINK SOMEONE EMBELLISHED WITH COLUMNS, BOTTOM AND TOP DECORATIONS; WHEN AND WHO DID IT IS UNKNOWN, BUT IT IS A NICE LOOKING CASE.

THE FIRED WHITE ENAMEL DIAL HAS ROMAN NUMERALS; THERE IS A SMALL CRACK IN THE DIAL BETWEEN THE CENTER SHAFT AND THE CENTER WINDING HOLE.  THE DIAL IS SIGNED BY THE RETAILER “K. KONIGBAUER, VILLACH”.  PART OF THE SIGNATURE WAS WIPED OFF PROBABLY BY SOMEONE TRYING TO CLEAN THE DIAL, THESE SIGNATURES WHERE JUST INKED ON.

 

THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT HAS 3 LEAD FILLED BRASS SHELLED WEIGHTS HUNG FROM ENGRAVED PULLEYS.  THE PENDULUM HAS A WOODEN ROD AND A LARGE BRASS BOB.  THE 8 DAY MOVEMENT STRIKES THE QUARTER HOURS ON ONE TUNED ROD AND THE HOURS ON A DIFFERENT TUNED ROD.

"Beautiful Carving"

THIS IS A BEAUTIFULLY CARVED GERMAN 2 WEIGHT WALL CLOCK BY AN UNKNOWN MAKER, CIRCA 1860’S.  THE FRONT DOOR IS CARVED FROM A SINGLE PIECE OF WOOD AND IS EMBELLISHED WITH PEARS AT THE TOP, FLORAL DECORATIONS AND SWILLS ALL ABOUT, MOST LIKELY CARVED IN THE BLACK FOREST.

 

THE DIAL IS A 2 PIECE WHITE FIRED ENAMEL DIAL WITH BLACK ROMAN NUMERALS AND A SECONDS BIT BELOW THE 12.

 

THE LEAD FILLED POLISHED BRASS WEIGHTS ARE HUNG FROM BRASS PULLEYS.  THE PENDULUM HAS A WOOD ROD AND A POLISHED BRASS BOB.

 

THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND THE ½ HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

 

THIS CLOCK IS A MARRIAGE, THE CASE AND MOVEMENT DID NOT START OUT LIFE TOGETHER, BUT THEY ARE A VERY NICE FIT, AND DATE ABOUT THE SAME.

THIS IS A SETH THOMAS NO. 18 REISSUE WALL REGULATOR IN A LONG DROP OAK CASE, CIRCA 1990.  THIS WEIGHT DRIVEN TIMEPIECE RUNS FOR 10 DAY ON A WINDING.

 

THE DIAL IS PAINTED, HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND A SECONDS BIT.  THE WOOD PENDULUM ROD HAS A BRASS BOB.  THE LEAD FILLED BRASS SHELLED WEIGHT IS HUNG FROM A BRASS PULLEY.

 

THIS MOVEMENT HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REBUILT.

Office #2

This is a Seth Thomas Office #2 model wall clock. The case is polished mahogany veneer. The buttons are brass and there are 2 missing at the bottom of the case. The arabic paper dial is an older replacement. The bottom glass is not original. The movement strikes just the hours on a gong. The clock was made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. in Thomaston, Conn. About 1890 – 1900

THIS IS A 10” DROP OCTAGON WITH A SIMPLE CALENDAR BY THE WATERBURY CLOCK CO IN WATERBURY, CT, CIRCA 1905-1910.  THE CASE IS MADE OF OAK. THE PAPER DIAL HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND ARABIC OUTSIDE CALENDAR RING, THE ORIGINAL DIAL HAS HAD SOME WATER DAMAGE DONE TO IT BUT IS STILL VERY READABLE. THE CAST PENDULUM IS VISIBLE THRU THE BOTTOM DOOR.  THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND ½ HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

IN NEW HAVEN, CT AND THE CASE IS ENGLISH, CIRCA 1900-1910.  THE CASE IS WALNUT AND HAS MOTHER OF PEARL AND PEWTER INLAY.  THE LOWER GLASS WINDOW IS BRASS FRAMED AND SHOW THE VISIBLE PENDULUM THRU THE GLASS.  THE SIDE EARS ARE IN A GRAPE LEAF AND GRAPE MOTIF.  THE WHITE ROMAN PAPER DIAL IS A REPLACEMENT, THE DIAL IS SIGNED “OREMONINI” AMD “T.T. HAMPTON”.  THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A GONG.

THIS IS AN AUSTRIAN GRANDE SONNERIE WALL CLOCK IN A TRANSITIONAL STYLE CASE MADE OF WALNUT SOLIDS AND VENEERS.  THE 2 PIECE WHITE FIRED ENAMEL DIAL HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND IS SIGNED BY THE RETAILER “FRANZ MULLER, WIEN” WHO IS LISTED IN THE  VIENNESE CLOCKMAKERS BOOK AS BEING IN BUSINESS IN VIENNA BETWEEN 1851-1862, (THE CHAPTER RING APPEARS TO BE A OLDER REPLACEMENT).  THE ORIGINAL HANDS ARE OF A VERY SLENDER AND DELICATE DESIGN.  THE WEIGHTS ARE BRASS SHELLED LEAD AND HAVE THE TYPICAL DINGS AND DENTS OF TIME, AND ARE HUNG FROM ENGRAVED BRASS PULLEYS.  THE PENDULUM HAS A WOOD ROD WITH A LARGE BRASS BOB.  THE 8 DAY, 3 WEIGHT MOVEMENT IS UNMARKED AND STRIKES THE ¼ HOURS ON ONE GONG AND THE HOURS ON ANOTHER.

THE PAINTED DIAL WITH ROMAN NUMERALS HAS BEEN RECENTLY RESTORED BY THE DIAL HOUSE. THERE ARE CARVED IVY EARS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CASE.  THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND ½ HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

THE CROWN PIECE IS A WIDOW’S WALK. THE DIAL IS SILVERED WITH BLACK ARABIC NUMERALS AND 24 HOUR OUTSIDE NUMERALS. THE PENDULUM HAS A WOOD ROD WITH A BRASS PENDULUM BOB. THE 8 DAY SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND ½ HOURS ON A COILED GONG. CIRCA 1920-1930. H- 36” x W- 13 ¾” x D- 8”
