ANSONIA "GOTHIC GEM" SMALL SHELF CLOCK MADE BY THE ANSONIA BRASS AND COPPER CO. IN ANSONIA, CT, CIRCA 1874.  THE CASE IS ROSEWOOD VENEERED AND IS IN VERY NICE CONDITION (NO CHIPS OR MISSING VENEER) .THE DOOR  FRAME HAS A ROUND TOP THAT IS GLAZED AND A SQUARE LOWER GLASS THAT IS REVERSE PAINTED WITH AN EAGLE THAT HAS A RED BANNER IN ITS BEAK THAT SAYS "E. PLURIBUS UNIM" WRITTEN ON IT AND 14 SILVER STARS ABOVE THE EAGLE.  THE INSIDE LABEL IS IN GOOD CONDITION.  THE DIAL IS PAINTED AND HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND AN OPEN CENTER FOR THE ALARM DISC.  THE DIAL HAS SOME CHIPS AND SCRATCHES BUT IS VERY LEGIBLE.
THE 8 DAY SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT HAS AN ALARM AND STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

FROM THE SETH THOMAS COLLEGE SERIES THIS IS THE "COLLEGE OXFORD", CIRCA 1895-1900 (CLOCK MARKED 7/1897), MADE BY THE SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. IN THOMASTON, CT, THE CASE IS MADE OF OAK AND HAS APPLIED WOOD SOME PIECE CARVINGS.  THE FRONT DOOR HAS GOLD PATTERNED GLASS THAT IS A REPRODUCTION, THE  PAPER DIAL HAS  ROMAN NUMERALS AND IS ALSO A REPRODUCTION.  THE PENDULUM IS OLD BUT NOT ORIGINAL TO THIS CLOCK.
THE 8 DAY SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

THE "ARLINGTON" SHELF CLOCK MADE BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO. IN BROOKLYN, NY, CIRCA 1906.  THE CLOCK IS FROM THE "A" ASSORTMENT AND IS LISTED AS "DARK WOOD" . THE DIAL PAN, PENDULUM AND ALARM BELL ARE DONE IN NICKEL, THE ORIGINAL SILK SCREENED GLASS IS SILVERED.  THE CASE IS EMBOSSED WOOD WITH FLOWERS AND SCROLLS.  THE ORIGINAL PAPER DIAL HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND IS IN GOOD SHAPE.

THE 8 DAY SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT HAS AN HOUR AND 1/2 HOUR STRIKE AND ALARM.

"Ansonia 8-Day Shelf Clock"

This is an Ansonia 8-Day Shelf Clock Circa 1880-1890. The case is made of walnut, has walnut overlays, and is carved on the top. The case has not been refinished but is very presentable as it is. The silver patterned glass is original and has a picture of plants. The glass is in good condition. The paper dial and pendulum are not original. The dial has black Roman Numerals and has a brass dial plate. The pendulum is brass with a regulating adjustment. This pendulum is from a similar style clock.The movement is a 1882 New York dome topped movement that strikes the hours and half hours on a mellow wire gong. There is a key.

"Triumph"

THIS IS THE "TRIUMPH" SHELF CLOCK MADE BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO. IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, CIRCA 1890-1910.  THE CASE IS MADE OF BLACK WALNUT WITH THE ORIGINAL SILVER CUPIDS, PLATE GLASS SIDE MIRRORS, ORNAMENTS AND WOOD FINIALS.

THE FRONT DOOR GLASS IS AN OLDER REPLACEMENT DONE IN SILVER.  THE PAPER DIAL WITH ROMAN NUMERALS IS A REPLACEMENT.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG AND HAS AN ALARM.  THE PENDULUM IS BRASS AND SILVER WITH 2 PSEUDO MERCURY VIALS.

 CARVED COLUMN AND SPLAT

THIS IS THE "PUTNAM" MADE BY THE SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. IN THOMASTON, CT, CIRCA 1902-1905.  THE CASE IS MADE OF MAHOGANY VENEERS AND THE HAND CARVED COLUMNS, SPLAT AND FEET ARE SOLID MAHOGANY.

THE ORIGINAL  10" SQUARE  PAINTED DIAL HAS ARABIC NUMERALS WITH A SCROLLED DESIGN IN THE CORNERS.  THE DIAL HAS SOME DINGS AND CHIPPING BUT OVERALL IS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE.

THE ORIGINAL REVERSE PAINTED LOWER GLASS TABLET DEPICTS A THATCHED ROOF ON A HOUSE ALONG THE WATER. THERE IS SOME PAINT CHIPPING IN THE SCENE.

THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A CATHEDRAL BELL (GONG).  THERE IS A NICE LABEL INSIDE ON THE BACK OF THE CASE.

THIS CLOCK STYLE WAS ORIGINALLY MANUFACTURED IN THE 1830S BUT THIS CLOCK IS A REISSUE FROM THE TURN OF THE 20TH CENTURY.

 "Sharp Gothic"

THIS IS AN ANSONIA "SHARP GOTHIC" OR MORE COMMONLY KNOWN AS A STEEPLE CLOCK MADE BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO. IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, CIRCA 1874.  THE CASE IS MAHOGANY VENEERED.  THE DIAL IS A NEW PAINTED DIAL WITH ROMAN NUMERALS.   THE GLASSES IN THE DOOR ARE BOTH REPRODUCTIONS.  THE SOLID MAHOGANY FINIALS ARE ORIGINALS.  THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

"Fulton"

THIS IS THE "FULTON" BLACK WALNUT SHELF CLOCK MADE BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO. IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, CIRCA 1886-1890.  THIS IS A VERY ORIGINAL CLOCK; INCLUDING THE GLASS, PENDULUM AND THE ORIGINAL DIAL.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

THERE IS A GOOD LABEL ON THE BACK OF THE CLOCK.

"London" by Atkins

THIS IS THE "LONDON" MODEL SHELF CLOCK BY THE ATKINS CLOCK CO. IN BRISTOL, CT, CIRCA  1870-1880.  THIS IS A VERY NICE ORIGINAL TIME, STRIKE AND ALARM CLOCK..  THE ROSEWOOD CASE APPEARS TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL FINISH. THE GILT COLMNS SHOW SOME AGE BUT ARE STILL IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.  THE PAINTED ROMAN NUMERAL DIAL HAS SOME CRAZING AND MINOR PAINT LOSS.  THERE  IS A SUPER NICE LABEL INSIDE THE CASE.  BOTH OF THE GLASSES IN THE UPPER DOOR ARE ORIGINAL AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITON.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND CLOCK STRIKE THE HOURS ON A BELL AND THE ALARM STRIKES ON THE SAME BELL.

8 Day OOG

 

This is an 8 day double door OOG. The movement is unmarked circa 1850-70. The label is missing. The painted white distressed dial has Roman numerals. The glass transfer in the bottom door is in very good shape. On the transfer are the names: Wade 1854, and Peirce S.C. The case has had new veneer applied in many places. The hands are reproduction. The weights are the original cast iron.

"Chicago"

THIS IS A “CHICAGO” SHELF CLOCK FROM THE “CITY SERIES” MADE BY THE SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO, IN THOMASTON, CT, CIRCA 1875-1885.  THE CASE IS ROSEWOOD VENEERED WITH BRASS DECORATIONS ON THE DOOR AND GILT COLUMNS.  THE PAINTED DIAL HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND HAS BEEN RESTORED BY THE DIAL HOUSE.  THE GLASS IN THE LOWER SECTION OF THE DOOR IS A GOLD STENCILED REPLACEMENT.  THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG.  THERE IS A FAIRLY NICE LABEL INSIDE.

Seth Thomas Weight Driven

 

 

THIS IS A ROSEWOOD SHELL COLUMN SHELF CLOCK MADE BY SETH THOMAS IN THOMASTON, CT, CIRCA 1866-1875. THE CASE IS ROSEWOOD VENEERED AND HAS SHELL COLUMNS WITH GILT CAPS AND BASES. THE PAINTED DIAL IS SQUARE AND HAS ROMAN NUMERAL WITH FRUIT DECORATIONS IN THE CORNERS, THE DIAL WAS RESTORED BY THE DIAL HOUSE. THE LOWER DOOR GLASS TABLET IS ORIGINAL AND REVERSE PAINTED WITH ROSES. THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT IS TIME AND HOUR STRIKE ON A COILED GONG AND HAD AN ALARM MECHANISM ORIGINALLY THAT IS NOW MISSING. THERE IS A NICE LABEL BEHIND THE DOOR THAT STATES SETH THOMAS, THOMASTON, CONN, HOWEVER THE MOVEMENT IS STAMPED SETH THOMAS, PLYMOUTH, SO THIS APPEARS TO BE A CROSS OVER CLOCK THAT WAS ASSEMBLED JUST AFTER THE CIVIL WAR.

THIS IS A ROUND BAND COTTAGE STYLE SHELF CLOCK MADE BY THE SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. IN PLYMOUTH HOLLOW, CT, CIRCA 1865-1870. THE CASE IS MAHOGANY VENEERED. THE SQUARE PAINTED WHITE DIAL HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND WAS RESTORED SOME TIME AGO BY THE DIAL HOUSE. THE LARGE LYRE PLATE SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG. THERE IS A NICE LABEL INSIDE; THE LOWER TABLET IS SOMEWHAT DISTRESSED. H-17” x W- 10 ½” x D- 3 ¼”

THE DOOR IS DIVIDED INTO 3 PANELS, THE LOWER TABLET IS OF ‘STATE STREET, BOSTON”, THE SLENDER CENTER GLASS IS A SCROLL PATTERN AND THE TOP GLASS IS TO VIEW THE DIAL. THE 8 DAY BRASS WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG. THE INSIDE LABEL IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND WAS PRINTED BY J.H. BENHAM, NEW HAVEN CT. H- 30 ¼” x W- 16 ¾” x D- 4 ¼”
