"Austria"

THIS IS THE "AUSTRIA" WALNUT SHELF CLOCK MADE BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, CIRCA 1894-1900.   THE FRONT DOOR OF THE CLOCK HAS SILVERED PATTERNED GLASS WITH LILY'S. THE ORIGINAL PAPER DIAL WITH ROMAN NUMERALS IS SOMEWHAT DISCOLORED WITH AGE.  THE DIAL PLATE IS SILVERED.  THE PENDULUM IS NOT ORIGINAL TO THE CLOCK BUT IT IS A OLD ONE , SILVERED WITH A SANDWHICH STYLE CENTER.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

"Triumph"

THIS IS THE "TRIUMPH" SHELF CLOCK MADE BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO. IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, CIRCA 1890-1910.  THE CASE IS MADE OF BLACK WALNUT WITH THE ORIGINAL SILVER CUPIDS, PLATE GLASS SIDE MIRRORS, ORNAMENTS AND WOOD FINIALS.

THE FRONT DOOR GLASS IS AN OLDER REPLACEMENT DONE IN SILVER.  THE PAPER DIAL WITH ROMAN NUMERALS IS A REPLACEMENT.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG AND HAS AN ALARM.  THE PENDULUM IS BRASS AND SILVER WITH 2 PSEUDO MERCURY VIALS.

"Alpine"

THIS IS THE "ALPINE" WALNUT CASED SHELF CLOCK MADE BY THE INGRAHAM CLOCK CO, IN BRISTOL, CT, CIRCA 1886-1890. 

THE PAPER ROMAN NUMERAL DIAL IS A REPLACEMENT.  ORGINAL PSEUDO MERCURY PENDULUM.  ORIGINAL  FRONT DOOR GLASS, SILK SCREENED IN GOLD; "TIME IS MONEY".

8 DAY TIME, STRIKE AND ALARM.  STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.  THE ALARM RINGS ON A BELL,THE ALARM RING IN THE CENTER OF THE DIAL  IS SILVERED.

 CARVED COLUMN AND SPLAT

THIS IS THE "PUTNAM" MADE BY THE SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. IN THOMASTON, CT, CIRCA 1902-1905.  THE CASE IS MADE OF MAHOGANY VENEERS AND THE HAND CARVED COLUMNS, SPLAT AND FEET ARE SOLID MAHOGANY.

THE ORIGINAL  10" SQUARE  PAINTED DIAL HAS ARABIC NUMERALS WITH A SCROLLED DESIGN IN THE CORNERS.  THE DIAL HAS SOME DINGS AND CHIPPING BUT OVERALL IS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE.

THE ORIGINAL REVERSE PAINTED LOWER GLASS TABLET DEPICTS A THATCHED ROOF ON A HOUSE ALONG THE WATER. THERE IS SOME PAINT CHIPPING IN THE SCENE.

THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A CATHEDRAL BELL (GONG).  THERE IS A NICE LABEL INSIDE ON THE BACK OF THE CASE.

THIS CLOCK STYLE WAS ORIGINALLY MANUFACTURED IN THE 1830S BUT THIS CLOCK IS A REISSUE FROM THE TURN OF THE 20TH CENTURY.

THIS IS AN ANSONIA "SHARP GOTHIC" OR MORE COMMONLY KNOWN AS A STEEPLE CLOCK MADE BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO. IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, CIRCA 1874.  THE CASE IS MAHOGANY VENEERED.  THE DIAL IS A NEW PAINTED DIAL WITH ROMAN NUMERALS.   THE GLASSES IN THE DOOR ARE BOTH REPRODUCTIONS.  THE SOLID MAHOGANY FINIALS ARE ORIGINALS.  THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

THERE IS A GOOD LABEL ON THE BACK OF THE CLOCK.

"London" by Atkins

THIS IS THE "LONDON" MODEL SHELF CLOCK BY THE ATKINS CLOCK CO. IN BRISTOL, CT, CIRCA  1870-1880.  THIS IS A VERY NICE ORIGINAL TIME, STRIKE AND ALARM CLOCK..  THE ROSEWOOD CASE APPEARS TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL FINISH. THE GILT COLMNS SHOW SOME AGE BUT ARE STILL IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.  THE PAINTED ROMAN NUMERAL DIAL HAS SOME CRAZING AND MINOR PAINT LOSS.  THERE  IS A SUPER NICE LABEL INSIDE THE CASE.  BOTH OF THE GLASSES IN THE UPPER DOOR ARE ORIGINAL AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITON.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND CLOCK STRIKE THE HOURS ON A BELL AND THE ALARM STRIKES ON THE SAME BELL.

"Triumph"

THIS IS THE "TRIUMPH" BLACK WALNUT SHELF CLOCK MADE BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, CIRCA  1880-1900. THIS CLOCK IS ALL ORIGINAL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE NEW PAPER ROMAN DIAL.  THE MIRRORED SIDES AND CUPIDS ARE ORIGINAL.  THE PENDULUM IS A ANSONIA PATENTED "REGULATOR" PENDULUM.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A BELL .  THERE IS A VERY NICE ORIGINAL LABEL ON THE BACK OF THE CLOCK; STATING THAT ANSONIA WON A PRIZE METAL FOR THIS CLOCK IN THE PARIS EXPOSITION IN 1878.

"Octagon Prize"

THIS IS THE "OCTAGON PRIZE" SHELF CLOCK MADE BY THE NEW HAVEN CLOCK CO. IN NEW HAVEN, CT CIRCA 1878-1885.  THE CASE IS ROSEWOOD  VENEERED.  THE ORIGINAL DIAL IS PAINTED AND HAS ROMAN NUMERALS.  THE GLASS IN THE DOOR  IS REVERSE PAINTED  WITH A ROSE AND THE TOP GLASS IS  EDGED WITH BLACK AND GOLD.  THE 8 DAY SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

8 Day OOG

 

This is an 8 day double door OOG. The movement is unmarked circa 1850-70. The label is missing. The painted white distressed dial has Roman numerals. The glass transfer in the bottom door is in very good shape. On the transfer are the names: Wade 1854, and Peirce S.C. The case has had new veneer applied in many places. The hands are reproduction. The weights are the original cast iron.

"Circa 1865-70"

THIS IS A COLUMN AND CORNICE TRIPLE DECKER SHELF CLOCK MADE BY THE SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. IN THOMASTON, CT, CIRCA 1865-1870.  THE CASE IS MADE SOLIDS AND VENEERS AND HAS ¾ LENGTH ½ SIDE COLUMNS THAT HAVE GILT BASES AND TOPS AND TORTOISE SHELL PAINTED COLUMNS.  BOTH OF THE TABLETS ARE ORIGINALS.  THE DIAL IS ORIGINAL BUT HAS BEEN TOUCHED UP WITH WHITE PAINT AND HAS BLACK ROMAN NUMERALS.  THE 8 DAY BRASS PLYMOUTH HOLLOW LYRE STYLE WEIGHT DRIVEN LYRE STYLE MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A GONG.  THE INSIDE LABEL IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

"Chicago"

THIS IS A “CHICAGO” SHELF CLOCK FROM THE “CITY SERIES” MADE BY THE SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO, IN THOMASTON, CT, CIRCA 1875-1885.  THE CASE IS ROSEWOOD VENEERED WITH BRASS DECORATIONS ON THE DOOR AND GILT COLUMNS.  THE PAINTED DIAL HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND HAS BEEN RESTORED BY THE DIAL HOUSE.  THE GLASS IN THE LOWER SECTION OF THE DOOR IS A GOLD STENCILED REPLACEMENT.  THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG.  THERE IS A FAIRLY NICE LABEL INSIDE.

Seth Thomas Weight Driven

 

 

THIS IS A ROSEWOOD SHELL COLUMN SHELF CLOCK MADE BY SETH THOMAS IN THOMASTON, CT, CIRCA 1866-1875. THE CASE IS ROSEWOOD VENEERED AND HAS SHELL COLUMNS WITH GILT CAPS AND BASES. THE PAINTED DIAL IS SQUARE AND HAS ROMAN NUMERAL WITH FRUIT DECORATIONS IN THE CORNERS, THE DIAL WAS RESTORED BY THE DIAL HOUSE. THE LOWER DOOR GLASS TABLET IS ORIGINAL AND REVERSE PAINTED WITH ROSES. THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT IS TIME AND HOUR STRIKE ON A COILED GONG AND HAD AN ALARM MECHANISM ORIGINALLY THAT IS NOW MISSING. THERE IS A NICE LABEL BEHIND THE DOOR THAT STATES SETH THOMAS, THOMASTON, CONN, HOWEVER THE MOVEMENT IS STAMPED SETH THOMAS, PLYMOUTH, SO THIS APPEARS TO BE A CROSS OVER CLOCK THAT WAS ASSEMBLED JUST AFTER THE CIVIL WAR.

THE SQUARE PAINTED WHITE DIAL HAS ROMAN NUMERALS AND WAS RESTORED SOME TIME AGO BY THE DIAL HOUSE. THE LARGE LYRE PLATE SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG. THERE IS A NICE LABEL INSIDE; THE LOWER TABLET IS SOMEWHAT DISTRESSED. H-17” x W- 10 ½” x D- 3 ¼”

THE DOOR IS DIVIDED INTO 3 PANELS, THE LOWER TABLET IS OF ‘STATE STREET, BOSTON”, THE SLENDER CENTER GLASS IS A SCROLL PATTERN AND THE TOP GLASS IS TO VIEW THE DIAL. THE 8 DAY BRASS WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG. THE INSIDE LABEL IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND WAS PRINTED BY J.H. BENHAM, NEW HAVEN CT. H- 30 ¼” x W- 16 ¾” x D- 4 ¼”
