"Rare carved clock by J. Huggler"

A LARGE CARVED "BLACK FOREST" TABLE CLOCK THAT WAS ACTUALLY CARVED IN BRIENZ, SWITZERLAND.  THIS RARE PIECE IS NOT SIGNED, HOWEVER IT HAS ALL OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF BEING CARVED BY JOHANN HUGGLER, "KING OF THE CARVERS", CIRCA 1870-1890.

THIS PIECE IS CARVED FROM ONE PIECE OF WALNUT.  THE SCENE DEPLICTS A SHEPHERD WITH A SHEEP AND A BABY LAMB IN THE  HUNTERS ARMS , WITH THIS DOG BESIDE HIM.  THE HUNTER HAS A DEAD SHEEP'S SKIN AND HEAD DRAPED OVER HIS SHOULDERS.  JOHANN HUGGLER WAS A WELL KNOWN POACHER IN HIS AREA AND OFTEN CARVED HIMSELF INTO THESE SCENES AS A LAUGH ON THE LOCAL GAMEKEEPERS AND LANDOWNERS.

THE DIAL IS WOOD WITH APPLIED SILVER ROMAN NUMERALS AND SILVER HANDS.  THERE IS A SILVERED BEZEL WITH PLATE BEVELED GLASS COVERING THE DIAL.

THE 8 DAY SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A BELL.

ALL ORIGINAL AND COMPLETE.

"Westminster"

"CHIME CLOCK NO 63" MADE BY THE SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO., IN THOMASTON, CT, CIRCA 1923-1930.   THE CASE IS MADE OF MAHOGANY SOLIDS AND VENEERS.  THERE IS A CURVED MOULDING AROUND THE TAMBOUR TOP AND AN APPLIED CARVED PIECE BELOW THE DIAL.  THE SILVERED DIAL HAS ENGRAVED ARABIC NUMERALS AND SETH THOMAS ENGRAVED ON IT.

 

THE 8 DAY SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT PLAYS THE WESTMINSTER CHIMES ON THE 1/4 HOURS AND STRIKES ON THE HOUR ON TUNED RODS.

THE "SYRIA" CABINET CLOCK MADE BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO., IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, CIRCA 1894-1900.  THE CASE IS MADE OF OAK WITH APPLIED EMBELLISHMENTS.  THE ORIGINAL DIAL IS PAPER WITH ROMAN NUMERALS AND A BRASS EMBOSSED CUT OUT CENTER.  THE BRASS BEZEL COVERING THE DIAL IS BEADED.

 

THE 8 DAY SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

ENGLISH WALNUT & WALNUT BURL GOTHIC MANTEL CLOCK.  THE CASE IS CARVED, HAS AN ARCHED CARVED DOOR, 3 CARVED SPIRES.  SILVERED DIAL WITH ENGRAVED SPANDRELS AND A CENTE SILENT/CHIME SUBSIDIARY DIAL IN THE ARCH, DIAL SIGNED SMITH & SONS, CLERKENWELL.  THE 8 DAY MOVEMENT HAS THREE CHAIN FUSEES AND CHIMES ON 8 BELLS AND STRIKES THE HOURS ON A GONG.  CIRCA 1880-1890.

"Single Fusee Timepiece"

ENGLISH BRACKET CLOCK BY W. WORDLEY, 129 CANNON ST., LONDON. CIRCA 1880-1890.  THE CASE HAS AN ARCHED TOP AND IS MADE OF MAHOGANY.  THERE  ARE BRASS CASTINGS OF MAIDENS WITH FLORAL GARLANDS HANING BELOW THEM HANGING DOWN EACH SIDE OF THE FRONT DOOR.  THERE ARE BRASS CAST GRILLS ON EACH SIDE OF THE CLOCK.  THE CLOCK SITS ON 4 BRASS CAST FEET.  THE INSIDE OF THE ARCHED FRONT DOOR IS ALSO BRASS FRAMED.  THERE ARE 5 BALL TOP BRASS FINAILS ON THE TOP OF THE CASE.

THE SILVERED DIAL IS ENGRAVED WITH CORNER DESIGNS AND ENGRAVING SURRONDING THE ARCH OF THE DIAL. THE SILVERED DIAL IS ENGRAVED WITH ROMAN NUMERALS.  IN THE ARCH OF THE DIAL THE MAKER'S NAME IS ENGRAVED "W. WORDLEY, 129 CANNON ST., LONDON.

THE 8 DAY MOEMENT IS A SINGLE CHAIN DRIVEN FUSEE TIMEPIECE.

THERE IS A BAD DENT IN THE WOOD BELOW THE DOOR ON THE FRONT MOLDING.

CABINET CLOCK "TRAFALGAR" BY THE JUNGHANS CLOCK FACTORY IN SCHRAMBERG, GERMANY, CIRCA 1910-1915.  THE CASE IS MADE OF OAK SOLID WOOD AND VENEER AND IS CARVED.  THE ARCHED DIAL HAS A BRASS ENGRAVED BACK PLATE WITH AN APPLIED SILVERED ENGRAVED CHAPTER RING WITH ARABIC NUMERALS AND 2 SUB DIALS IN THE ARCH- 1 FOR REGULATION AND THE OTHER FOR SILENT/CHIME.  THERE IS BEVELED GLASS IN THE DOOR.

THE 8 DAY SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT PLAYS THE WESTMINTER CHIMES ON THE 1/4 HOURS AND STRIKES THE HOURS ON 5 TUNED RODS.

IN THOMASTON , CT, CIRCA 1920-1925.  THE CASE IS MAHOGANY VENEERED.  THE DIAL IS SILVERED WITH ENGRAVED ARABIC NUMERALS; THE BRASS BEZEL HAS BEVELED CONVEX GLASS.  THE #113 SPRINGWOUND 8 DAY  MOVEMENT PLAYS THE WESTMINSTER CHIMES ON THE 1/4 HOURS AND STRIKES ON THE HOURS.

SONORA "CHIME NO. 14" WESTMINSTER MANTLE CLOCK ON 5 BELLS BY THE SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. IN THOMASTON, CT, CIRCA 1915.  THE CASE IS MADE OF MAHOGANY AND IS LANCET SHAPED.  THE DIAL IS SILVERED WITH BLACK ARABIC NUMERALS AND HAS SETH THOMAS SONORA CHIME WRITTEN ON THE DIAL BELOW THE 12.  THE CLOCK SITS ON 4 BRASS ROUND BUN FEET.  THERE IS A SILENT/CHIME LEVER ON  THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CASE.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT GOVERNS A SECONDARY MOVEMENT THAT RINGS WESTMINSTER CHIMES ON SONORA BELLS ON THE QUARTER HOURS AND STRIKES THE HOURS.

"Doric #0 Timepiece"

“Doric #0” mantel clock by The Seth Thomas Clock Co. in Thomaston, CT, circa 1909-1915.  The case is made of real bronze.  The 3 ¾” dial is silvered with applied raised Arabic numerals and is signed by the retailer “Raphael Weill, San Francisco”.

 

The 8 day springwound movement strikes the hours and ½ hours on a coiled gong.

"French Bronze"

THIS IS A FRENCH BALL CLOCK ON A BRONZE STATUE, CIRCA 1880-1900.  THE BRONZE STATUE IS BY FRENCH SCULPTOR "LEON BUREAU" 1866-1906.  THE CLOCK BALL IS HELD UP BY A YOUNG MAN IN A LOOSE  SACKCLOTH.  THE BALL IS PAINTED DARK GREEN AND HAS GOLD STARS ATTACHED ALL AROUND THE BALL AND HAS ATTACHED ROMAN NUMERALS.  THE STATUE AND THE CLOCK SIT ON GREEN MARBLE SUB BASE.  THE BRONZE IS SIGNED ON THE BOTTOM AREA OF THE STATUE  "LEON BUREA".

THE 8 DAY SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT IS BY SAMUEL MARTI AND HAS THE MARTI TRADEMARK WITH 1889 MEDIALLE ARGENT AND THE #3987.  THE CLOCK STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A BELL.

"Hamburg American Clock Co."

THIS IS A GERMAN TAMBOUR MADE BY THE HAMBURG AMERICAN CLOCK CO IN WARTTEMBERG, GERMANY, CIRCA 1910-20.  THE CASE IS MADE OF OAK SOLIDS AND VENEERS, THE FRONT OF THE CASE HAS BEEN REVENEERED.  THERE ARE CARVINGS AT THE TOP OF THE CASE AND ON THE LOWER FRONG CORNERS.  THERE IS A VIEWING WINDOW WITH BEVELED GLASS TO SEE THE BRASS PENDULUM BOB.  THE DIAL IS SILVERED WITH PAINTED ARABIC NUMERALS AND HAS THE TRADEMARK CROSSED ARROWS UNDER THE 12:00.  THE BACK DOOR HAS A HAMBURG AMERICAN PLACQUE.  THERE IS SOME DAMAGE TO THE BACK OF THE CASE.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND THE 1/2 HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

"French Slate & Marble"

THIS IS A LARGE FRENCH BLACK SLATE AND MARBLE CLOCK.  THE MOVEMENT DOES NOT HAVE A TRADEMARK, BUT DATES 1890-1900.

THE DIAL IS 2 PIECE WHITE FIRED ENAMEL WITH ROMAN NUMERALS. THERE IS A FRONT VISABLE BROCOT ESCAPEMENT WITH JEWELED PALLETS.  THE DIAL IS SIGNED BUT NOT VERY EASY TO READ- "E. ROUSSY".

THE BLACK SLATE CASE IS HIGHLIGHTED WITH BROWN, BLACK AND WHITE MARBLE.  THERE 1/2 MARLBLE COLUMNS ON EACH SIDE OF THE CASE FRONT.

THE CLOCK HAS A BRASS FRAMED BEVELED GLASS IN THE FRONT TO VIEW THE 2 VIAL GLASS AND BRASS MERCURY PENDULUM.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A BELL.

THERE IS SOME CHIPPING ALONG THE BASE.

THE DIAL IS WHITE FIRED ENAMEL WITH BLUE ROMAN NUMERALS AND BLACK ARABIC OUTSIDE 5 MINUTE MARKS.

THE 8 DAY FRENCH SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT BY MARTI SIT IN A SILVERED CAN ON TOP OF THE SLATE SECTION.  THE MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON  A BELL.

THE DIAL IS WHITE FIRED ENAMEL WITH BLUE ROMAN NUMERALS AND BLACK OUTSIDE FIVE MINUTE MARKS IN ARABIC NUMERALS.

THE 8 DAY FRENCH SPRINGWOUND UNMARKED MOVEMENT  HAS A CYLINDER PLATFORM AND A COUNTWHEEL STRIKE THAT STRIKES THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS ON A BELL.

THE CLOCK HAS A SILVER ENGRAVED DIAL WITH DAMASK IN THE CENTER WITH BLACK ENGRAVED ROMAN NUMERALS.

THE 8 DAY FRENCH SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT HAS A COUNTWHEEL BELL STRIKE  ON THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOURS.  THE PENDULUM HAS A SILK THREAD SUSPENSION.

THIS IS A COTTAGE CLOCK CALLED "FAVORITE" MADE BY THE GILBERT CLOCK CO. IN BRISTOL, CT, CIRCA 1881.  THE CASE IS ROSEWOOD VENEERED.  THE REPRODUCTION DIAL  IS A SQUARE PAPER  WITH ROMAN NUMERALS AND PAINTED CORNER SPRANDRELS (THE ORIGINAL DIAL IS ON THE BACK OF THE NEW DIAL).  THERE IS GILT FRAMING AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR.  BOTH OF THE DOOR GLASSES APPEAR TO BE ORIGINAL, THE LOWER GLASS IN THE DOOR HAS AN OVAL APETURE TO VIEW THE PENDULUM.THERE IS SOME MINOR CHIPPING OF THE VENEER AROUND THE BOTTOM OF THE CASE.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

THIS IS A WESTMINSTER CHIME MANTEL CLOCK MADE BY THE JUNGHANS CLOCK CO. IN SCHRAMBERG, GERMANY, CIRCA 1910-1925.  THE CASE IS MADE OF MAHOGANY SOLIDS AND VENEERS AND HAS PSEUDO INLAY ON THE ARCH TOP AND ON THE FRONT OF THE CASE.

THE DIAL HAS A BRASS ENGRAVED BACK PLATE WITH A SILVERED CHAPTER RING WITH ARABIC NUMERALS ATTACHED AND 2 SUB-DIAL ABOVE THE CHAPTER RING; ONE FOR REGULATION AND ONE FOR SILENT/CHIME.  THE FRONT DOOR COVERING THE DIAL HAS BEVELED GLASS.

THIS IS AN 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND CLOCK.  THE WESTMINTER CHIME PLAYS EVERY 15 MINUTES ON TUNED RODS AND STRIKES THE HOURS.

THIS IS A FRENCH PORCELAIN MANTEL CLOCK WITH BRASS DECORATIONS, CIRCA 1900.  THE CASE IS DONE IN A SOFT PINK WITH GOLD FLOWERS PAINTED ON THE CASE SIDES AND BACK AND A LOVELY PASTEL SPRAY OF FLOWERS ON THE TOP OF THE CASE.  THERE IS A VICTORIAN SCENE OF A GENTLEMAN READING TO A LADY OUTDOORS, THE PICTURE WAS PAINTED AND SIGNED BY PETIT.  THE DIAL OF THE CLOCK IS CREAM COLORED FIRED ENAMEL WITH ARABIC NUMERALS AND A BRASS CENTER PIECE.  THE DIAL HAS A BRASS BEZEL WITH BEVELED GLASS.  THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT IS MARKED “A1” AND HAS THE SERIAL #72311, AND STRIKES THE HOURS AND ½ HOURS ON A GONG.

Gothic Bracket

This is an English Gothic mantle clock in a highly carved oak case with spires, circa 1880s. The bottom 3 layers including the feet have been remade in a fir type of wood. The corners are not as sharp as the upper parts but the color is a good match. The 8 day chain fusee movement strikes the hours on a gong and has a half hour passing bell strike. The Roman numeral silvered dial is engraved.

THE BLACK SLATE CASE HAS NICE INCISING AROUND THE DIAL AND ALONG THE BASE.  THE BLACK SLATE DIAL HAS ENGRAVED ROMAN NUMERALS THAT ARE GILT FILLED AND THE DIAL IS SIGNED BY THE RETAILER “POUILLARD, ST ARMAND”.

 

THE STATUE OF THE LADY IS FINISHED IN BRONZE AND GILT.  THE LION HEADS ON THE SIDES OF THE CASE AND THE FEET ARE FINISHED IN BRONZE.

"Beautiful French Clock Set"

THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL FRENCH CLOCK SET, CIRCA 1880’S.  THE SET INCLUDES THE CLOCK, 2 VASES AND 2 CANDLESTICKS, IN LOVELY SHADES OF PINK WITH HAND PAINTED ROSES AND A FEW REALISTIC BUGS PAINTED ON THE CLOCK.  THERE ARE MAKER MARKS ON THE CASE, A BUGLE HORN AND ANOTHER MARK OF 2 ANCHORS, HOWEVER THE MARK’S CIRCA DOESN’T AGREE WITH THE CLOCK’S MOVEMENT AGE, THE CLOCK MOVEMENT IS NOT AS OLD AS THE CLOCK SET ACORDING TO THE MARKS. ONE OF THE CANDELSTICKS HAS BEEN BROKEN AT THE STEM, BUT A GOOD REPAIR WAS DONE AND IT IS NOT VERY NOTICABLE.  OTHER THAN THAT, THERE ARE NO CHIPS OR CRACKS OR CRAZING TO THE GLAZE. THE DIAL IS WHITE FIRED ENAMEL WITH BLUE ROMAN NUMERALS AND RED ARABIC 5 MINUTE NUMERALS. THE CLOCK MOVEMENT IS 8 DAY, SPRING WOUND AND STRIKES THE HOURS AND ½ HOURS ON A BELL.  THE MOVEMENT IS NOT MARKED.

THIS IS THE “IMOGENE” MANTEL CLOCK MADE BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO. IN BROOKLYN. NY, CIRCA 1880-1891.  THE CASE IS BLACK CAST IRON WITH ETCHED DECORATIONS IN GOLD.  THERE ARE LION’S HEADS ON THE SIDES OF THE CASE.  THE REPRODUCTION REPLACEMENT PAPER DIAL HAS ROMAN NUMERALS.  THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND ½ HOURS ON A COILED GONG.

Magnificent!

THIS IS A FRENCH MEISSEN CLOCK SET CIRCA 1875.  THE CLOCK WAS CREATED TO SIGNIFY THE UNION OF SAXONY AND THE KINGDOM OF POLAND.  THE FIGURE ON THE CLOCK IS A LADY SITTING ON THE TOP OF THE CLOCK ANNOUNCING THIS EVENT, WITH A CROWNED EAGLE UNDERNEATH HER, THE LOWER FIGURES ON THE CASE ARE HERALDRY AND ALLEGORICAL FIGURES.  THIS WAS ORIGINALLY MODELLED BY F.F. KANDLER AND F. DBERLEIN.  THE BLUE CROSSED SWORD MARK AND FORM ARE INCISED ON THE CLOCK.  THERE ARE 2 MATCHING CANDELABRAS WITH VENUS AND CUPID WITH POLYCHROME ENAMELING WITH FLOWERS.  THE DIAL IS WHITE FIRED ENAMEL WITH ROMAN NUMERALS, AND HAS BEVELED GLASS IN THE BEZEL.  THE FRENCH SPRING WOUND MOVEMENT IS BY JAPY AND HAS THE JAPY MEDAILLE HONNEUR MARK ON THE MOVEMENT.  THE 8 DAY MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS AND ½ HOURS ON A BELL.   THERE HAS BEEN SOME MINOR PROFESSIONAL RESTORATION DONE TO THE CASE.

NICE MANTEL CLOCK

THIS IS A GERMAN MANTEL CLOCK MADE BY THE BADISCHE UHRENFABRIK IN FURTWANGEN (BLACK FOREST), GERMANY, CIRCA 1910-1920.  THE CASE IS MADE OF OAK SOLIDS AND VENEERS AND HAS A DETACHABLE TOP WITH AN EMBOSSED BRASS DECORATION IN THE CENTER. THE FRONT DOOR HAS PLAIN DOUBLE COLUMNS ON THE SIDES WITH WOODEN BUTTONS ON THE CORNERS.  THE ARCHED DIAL HAS A BRASS BACK PLATE WITH APPLIED BRASS EMBOSSED CORNER SPANDRELS AND AN EMBOSSED BRASS ANGEL IN THE ARCH, THE CHAPTER RING IS SILVERED WITH ARABIC NUMERALS.  THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT (MARKED SERIAL # 54051) STRIKES THE HOURS AND ½ HOURS ON A COILED GONG.
