"Austrian Grande Sonnerie Floor Clock"
THIS IS A 30 DAY AUSTRIAN GRANDE SONNERIE FLOOR CLOCK IN A OAK CASE.  THE CASE IS 93" TALL AND 25" WIDE AT THE TOP.  AT ONE IN THIS CLOCKS LIFE THE CASE HAS BEEN MODIFIED; SHORTENED ABOUT 18" TO FIT UNDER 8' CEILINGS, THE SHORTENEING WAS WELL DONE AND IS ONLY NOTICEABLE  BY THE RELOCATION OF TH HINGES ON THE CENTER DOOR, THE WIDTH OF THE CASE HAS ALSO BEEN MODIFIED.  THERE IS A STORAGE COMPARTMENT IN THE BASE OF THE CLOCK.  THE 9' CAST BRASS PIE CRUST DIAL RIM SURROUNDS AN 8 " SILVERED ARABIC DIAL CHAPTER RING AS WELL AS A SEPARATE SECONDS BIT.  THE DIAL HAS AN APPLIED SILVERED PLAQUE OF THE CLOCK MAKER "CKAPLAN,GRAZ" AND IS LISTED AS WORKING AS A CLOCK MAKER IN THE 1870'S .  WE FEEL THE MOVEMENT IS NOT ORIGINAL TO THE CASE BECAUSE THE PIE CRUST DIAL RIM IS MOSTLY HIDDEN BY THE ROUND OPENING IN THE UPPER DOOR.
