"Herschede Hall Clock"

HERSCHEDE HALL CLOCK CO. OF CINCINNATI, OHIO, CIRCA 1938-1940.  THE STRAIGHT SIDED CASE IS MADE OF MAHOGANY FROM HONDURAS.  THERE ARE 2 HALF COLUMNS DOWN THE FRONT OF THE CASE.  THE TOP OF THE CASE HAS A BROKEN PEDIMENT WITH A TALL FINIAL IN THE CENTER.  THERE IS PLAIN GLASS IN THE FRONT DOOR.  THE DIAL IS SILVERED AND HAS APPLIED ARABIC NUMERALS.

THE 8 DAY MOVEMENT IS DRIVEN BY 3 PLAIN BRASS WEIGHTS HUNG FROM CHAINS, THE PENDULUM HAS A STEEL ROD AND A BRASS BOB.  THE MOVEMENT PLAYS THE WESTMINSTER CHIME ON THE 1/4 HOURS AND STRIKES THE HOURS.

"Grandmother"

THIS IS A GRANDMOTHER CLOCK MADE BY THE KIENZLE CLOCK FACTORY IN SCHWENNINGEN, GERMANY, CIRCA  1910-1920. THE CASE IS PAINTED BLACK AND HAS CHINOSERIZED LIKE DECORATIONS IN A CHINESE MOTIF ALL OVER THE CASE.  THE DIAL IS SILVERED WITH A PAINTED CHAPTER RING AN D APPLIED BLACO ARABIC NUMERALS.

THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT PLAYS THE WESTMINTSTER CHIMES ON THE QUARTER HOURS AND STRIKES THE HOURS ON TUNED RODS.  THE PENDULUM HAS A WOOD ROD AND A WOOD PENDULUM BOB.

THE MOVEMENT IS STAMPED WITH THE KIENZLE TRADEMARK AND HAS THE SERIAL # 47904.

Victorian Hall Clock

This is a 9 tube Victorian hall clock, circa 1920, imported by G. Borgfeldt, with an Elite movement made by Jacques in Germany. The solid mahogany case has a removable hood with a scroll pediment and full wood columns. The waist has a glazed door and full mahogany columns. There are carved wood claw feet on the bottom of the case. The weight driven movement chimes your choice of; Westminster, or 8 bells on the quarter hours on 8 tubular bells and strikes the hours on a 9th tube.

"Henry Baker, Malling"

THIS IS A LONG CASE CLOCK MADE BY HENRY BAKER OF MALLING, ENGLAND.  HENRY BAKER IS LISTED IN G.H. BAILLIE'S BOOK AS A CLOCKMAKER IN MALLING BEFORE 1768 UNTIL 1784.  THE CASE HS BEEN CHINOISERIZED IN A CHINESE MOTIF. 

THE DIAL IS ARCHED WITH A ROUND SILVERED BOSS IN THE CENTER SIGNED HENRY BAKER, MALLING WITH A SUN ENGRAVED ABOVE THE SIGNATURE.  THERE ARE BRASS SPANDRELS ON EACH SIDE OF THE BOSS.  BELOW THE ARCH IS A SILVERED CHAPTER WITH ENGRAVED ROMAN NUMERALS, THERE ARE FLEUR DE LIS BETWEEN THE NUMERALS AND OUTSIDE 5 MINUTE ARABIC NUMERALS.  THE CENTER OF THE DIAL IS MATTE BRASS AND HAS A SECONDS BIT AND A CALENDAR WINDOW.  THERE ARE BIRDS AND A BASKET OF FLOWERS ENGRAVED ON THE CENTER DISC OF THE DIAL.  THERE ARE 4 BRASS CORNER SPANDRELS OF TWO EAGLES HOLDING AN URN ON THE 4 CORNERS OF THE DIAL.  THE HOOD HAS 3/4 ROUND COLUMNS ON THE FRONT AND 1/4 COLUMNS ON THE REAR.

THE WEIGHT DRIVEN 8 DAY MOVEMENT HAS 5 POSTS IN THE MOVEMENT AND STRIKES THE HOURS ON A BELL.

ALL ORIGINAL AND COMPLETE.

Home Made Case Master Clock


This is a standard electric floor (formally wall) clock. Circa 1930's. Originally a wall hung MasterClock movement, This clock operated a series of slave clocks as used in schools & large office buildings where all the slaves would be wired and powered by a once s minute electric impulse, controled by the master clock in the office. The master clock was wound once each minute and runs on 24VDC, as did the slave clocks when provided.

WESTMINSTER CHIMES

THIS IS A CARVED OAK ENGLISH LONG CASE CLOCK MADE BY AN UNKNOWN MAKER IN ENGLAND, CIRCA 1850'S.  THE REMOVEABLE  HOOD HAS A FLAT TOP WITH FRETWORK BETWEEN THE TOP MOULDING AND THE HOOD DOOR.  THE HOOD HAS FULL TURNED COLUMNS ON THE FRONT CORNERS.  THE SQUARE BRASS DIAL HAS A SILVERED CHAPTER RING WITH ENGRAVED ROMAN NUMERALS, ARABIC OUTSIDE 5 MINUTE MARKS AND DELICATELY ENGRAVED FLEURS-DE-LIS BETWEEN THE ROMAN NUMERALS.  THERE IS A SECONDS BIT BELOW THE 12:00.  THE 4 BRASS CORNER SPANDRELS HAVE A CROWN WITH A CROSS ON TOP AND 2 PUTTYS HOLDING THE CROWN.

THE WAIST OF THE CLOCK HAS A SOLID RECTANGULAR DOOR WITH A CARVING OF A VICTORIAN HEAD WITH CARVED DESIGNS  AROUND IT.

THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT CHIMES THE WESTMINTER CHIMES ON 4 FLAT COILED GONGS AND STRIKES THE HOURS ON A 5TH FLAT COILED GONG.

 "German LFS Floor Clock"

THIS IS A GERMAN FLOOR CLOCK MADE BY LFS (LORENZ FURTWANGLER) IN FURTWAGEN  (BLACK FOREST) GERMANY, CIRCA 1920'S.

THE CASE IS MAHOGANY WITH THE TWO FRONT DOORS DONE IN A BOOKMATCHED MAHOGANY BURL.  THERE IS A WOOD BEZEL SURROUNDING THE DIAL.  THE LOWER FRONT DOOR HAS A ROUND APERTURE TO VIEW THE BRASS PENDULUM BOB.  THE DIAL IS WHITE FIRED ENAMEL WITH GREEN ARABIC NUMERALS.

THIS 8 DAY CLOCK IS DRIVEN BY 2 BRASS SHELLED BRASS WEIGHTS HUNG FROM CHAINS.  THIS CLOCK STRIKES ON THE HOURS AND 1/2 HOUR ON A COILED GONG.  THE LFS TRADEMARK IS STAMPED ON THE BACK PLATE OF THE MOVEMENT; ALONG WITH "PEND. SCHW. 60 PRO MIN", AND THE SERIAL NUMBER 81758.

"Miniature Long Case"

THIS  IS A MINIATURE LONG CASE. WITH THE DIAL SIGNED RICH RAYMENT, BURY.  WATCHMAKER AND CLOCKMAKERS OF THE WORLD BY G.H. BAILLIE  LISTS RAYMENT AS WORKING IN 1743.  THE DIAL HAS ALL OF THE CHARACTERISICS OF EARLY RAYMENT DIALS; ENGRAVING, SPANDRELS, DESIGN AND SIGNATURE.

THE MOVEMENT APPEARS TO BE LATER SHOWING VERY LITTLE SIGNS OF WEAR ON THE PINIONS, LEVERS AND PALLETS.

THE CASE STANDING ONLY 66" TALL IS MADE OF OAK WITH FLORAL INLAY AND SPIRAL TWIST COLUMNS ON THE HOOD.  THE CASE HAS BEEN REFINISHED AND UNFORTUNETELY THE FLORAL INLAY DOES NOT SHOW WELL.
THE IS WEIGHT DRIVEN 8 DAY CLOCK STRIKES THE HOURS ON A BELL.

THIS IS AN AUSTRIAN SINGLE WEIGHT VIENNA FLOOR CLOCK BY JOH. WOLKENSTEIN CIRCA 1881-1913. THE HEAVILY PLATED TIMEPIECE MOVEMENT RUNS 8 DAYS ON A WIND. THE PENDULUM IS VERY HEAVY POLISHED BRASS. THE SILVERED ARABIC NUMERAL DIAL HAS A BRASS INSERT. THE CLOCK SEEMS ORIGINAL AND FITS THE ERA.

"English Victorian Hall Clock"

THIS IS AN ENGLISH VICTORIAN HALL CLOCK MADE BY MAPLE & CO. LONDON, CIRCA 1890-1910.  THE CASE IS MADE OF WALNUT WITH SATINWOOD VENEERS WITH INLAID OVAL ON THE TRUNK DOOR AND BASE.  THERE IS SATINWOOD BANDING AROUND THE EDGES OF THE TRUNK DOOR AND FRAMING THE INLAID OVAL ON THE BASE.

THE HOOD HAS A SCROLL PEDIMENT WITH INLAID ROSETTES IN THE SCROLLS. THERE IS A CENTER BRASS FINIAL. THE ARCHED DIAL HAS A BRASS BACK PLATE WITH A SILVERED CHAPTER RING WITH ENGRAVED ROMAN NUMERALS AND A SILVERED SILENT/CHIME RING IN THE ARCH.  THERE ARE GILT SPANDRELS IN THE CORNERS AND BESIDE THE SILENT/CHIME RING.  THE CENTER OF THE DIAL IS MATTE BRASS AND HAS A SILVERED SECONDS BIT.

THE 8 DAY MOVEMENT IS DRIVEN BY 3 BRASS SHELLED CABLE HUNG WEIGHTS AND PLAYS THE WESTMINSTER CHIME ON THE ¼ HOURS ON A SET OF 4 BRASS MOUNTED FLAT STEEL SPIRAL GONGS AND STRIKES THE HOURS ON A SEPARATE FLAT STEEL GONG.

THE PENDULUM HAS A FLAT NICKLE PLATED STEEL ROD AND A BRASS FACED PENDULUM.

"Circa 1775-1780"

 

THIS IS A SCOTTISH LONG CASE FLOOR CLOCK MADE BY ALEXANDER FERGUSON IN DUNDEE, SCOTLAND, CIRCA 1775-1780 (LISTED IN BAILLIE’S AS 1777).  THE CASE IS MADE OF MAHOGANY SOLIDS AND VENEERS.

 

THE BONNET HAS A DOMED TOP WITH 3 BRASS FINIALS (REPLACEMENTS) ON TOP.  THERE IS A FULL COLUMN WITH BRASS CAPS AND BASES ON EACH SIDE OF THE HOOD.  THE HOOD SIDES ARE SOLID.

 

THE DIAL IS ARCHED AND HAS A BRASS BACK PLATE WITH A SILVERED CHAPTER RING WITH ENGRAVED ROMAN NUMERALS AND OUTSIDE ARABIC 5 MINUTE MARKS.  THERE IS A SILVERED SECONDS BITS AND A CALENDAR WINDOW.  THERE IS A SILVERED ENGRAVED BOSS IN THE ARCH OF THE DIAL “ALESr FERGUSON, DUNDEE” WITH BRANCH LIKE SPANDRELS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE BOSS.  THERE ARE ALSO CORNER SPANDRELS IN A MATCHING DESIGN.

 

THE TRUNK OF THE CLOCK HAS A DOMED TOP DOOR, AND HAS BEAUTIFULLY GRAINED MAHOGANY.

 

THE BASE SITS FLAT ON THE FLOOR WITH A MOULDING AROUND IT.

 

THE 8 DAY BRASS MOVEMENT IS DRIVEN BY 2 CAST WEIGHT AND STRIKES THE HOURS ON A BELL.

Beautiful Bim-Bam Tone

THIS IS A ROUND TOP GERMAN FLOOR CLOCK MADE BY EMBEE (MATHIAS BAUERLE UHRENFABRIK) IN ST. GEORGEN (BLACK FOREST) GERMANY, CIRCA 1925-1935.  THE CASE IS OAK AND OAK VENEER.  THERE ARE 3 PANELS OF PLAIN GLASS IN THE LOWER SECTION OF THE DOOR.  THERE IS APPLIED FLORAL CARVING ON THE BASE.  THE CLOCK SITS ON ROUND BUN FEET.  THE DIAL IS BRASS WITH BLACK PAINTED ARABIC NUMERALS AND SMALL PAINTED 24 HOUR NUMERALS.  THE WEIGHTS AND PENDULUM BOB ARE BRASS REPLACEMENTS IN THE ROSE PATTERN.  THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT STRIKES A BIM-BAM ON TUNED RODS ON THE HOURS AND ½ HOURS.

KELLETT, BREDBURY”, ENGLAND, CIRCA 1865-1878.  THE CASE IS MADE OF OAK SOLIDS WITH MAHOGANY VENEER INLAYS AND SATINWOOD BANDING.  THE HOOD HAS A SWAN PEDIMENT TOP WITH 3 BRASS FINIALS; THE CENTER FINIAL HAS AN EAGLE.  THE HOOD HAS 2 FULL TURNED COLUMNS ON THE FRONT CORNERS.  THE WAIST IS PINCHED WITH BLOCK STYLE 3/4 LENGTH REEDED COLUMNS WITH SATINWOOD AND EBONY BANDING.  THE PLINTH HAS A RAISED PANEL AND SITS ON OGEE BRACKET FEET.  THE 8 DAY BRASS WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A BELL.  THE DIAL IS ARCHED AND PAINTED WITH THE 4 SEASONS IN THE CORNERS AND A SCENE WITH A BOY AND HIS MOTHER WITH LAMBS IN THE CENTER OF THE DIAL.  A GIRL AND HER DOG ARE PAINTED IN THE HEMISPHERE AREA OF THE DIAL.  THERE IS ALSO A PAINTED EYE UNDER THE 12.  THE MOON PHASE HAS FARMING SCENES AS WELL AS THE MOONS.  THERE IS A CENTER SWEEP CALENDAR.

English Cottage Style

THIS IS AN ENGLISH COTTAGE STYLE LONG CASE CLOCK BY J. BRUIMHEAD, STAMFORD, ENGLAND, CIRCA 1828-1835.  THE CASE IS MADE OF SOLID OAK.  THE HOOD HAS A SWAN PEDIMENT WITH A WOODEN FLUTED HALF FINIAL IN THE CENTER AND WOOD ROSETTES ON THE SWAN’S NECKS AND TWO FULL COLUMNS WITH BRASS CAPS AND BASES ON THE FRONT OF THE HOOD.  THE DIAL IS SQUARE AND PAINTED WITH DECORATIVE CORNERS AND HAS A SECONDS BIT. IT IS SIGNED BY THE MAKER “J. BRUIMHEAD, STAMFORD”. THERE IS FRET WORK ABOVE THE DIAL.  THE WAIST DOOR HAS A SHAPED TOP. THERE ARE CANTED REEDED CORNERS ON THE WAIST.  THE BASE HAS SCULPTURED FEET. THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT HAS 2 CAST IRON WEIGHTS AND STRIKES THE HOURS ON A BELL.

American Long Case

THIS IS AN UNSIGNED AMERICAN LONG CASE CLOCK, MOST PROBABLY FROM PENNSYLVANIA, CIRCA 1800-1820.  THE CASE IS MADE OF MAHOGANY SOLIDS AND VENEERS.  THE DOOR IN THE WAIST OF THE CLOCK HAS AN OVAL CROTCH MAHOGANY BOOKMATCHED INLAY & THE BASE HAS A ROUND CROTCH MAHOGANY PANEL, THE BASE HAS BEEN CRACKED & IS REPAIRED WITH AN INSERT OF WOOD, AND THIS APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN DONE SOMETIME AGO.  THE HOOD HAS A SWAN PEDIMENT W/A BRASS FINIAL IN THE CENTER.  THERE ARE 2 FULL REEDED COLUMNS WITH BRASS CAPS & BASES ON THE FRONT CORNERS OF THE HOOD.  THE PAINTED DIAL IS ARCHED & HAS A MOON PHASE IN THE ARCH, THE CORNER OF THE DIAL HAVE PAINTED GILT DECORATIONS.  THE NUMERALS ARE ARABIC; THERE IS A SECONDS BIT & A CALENDAR.  THERE ARE ¼ REEDED COLUMNS IN THE WAIST W/WOOD CAPS & BASES.  THE CASE SITS ON REPLACEMENT BUN FEET.  THE 8 DAY BRASS MOVEMENT IS WEIGHT DRIVEN BY 2 CAST IRON WEIGHTS AND STRIKES THE HOURS ON A BELL.

THE 8 DAY WEIGHT DRIVEN MOVEMENT HAS A COUNT WHEEL AND STRIKES THE HOURS AND ½ HOURS ON A COILED GONG. THE POLISHED BRASS WEIGHTS AND PENDULUM BOB ARE IN A MATCHING PATTERN. THE SILVERED DIAL IS ENGRAVED WITH ARABIC NUMERALS ON RAISED BOSSES; THE CENTER IS AN ENGRAVED SUNBURST. THE CASE HAS CARVINGS ON THE DOOR AND ON THE BASE. CIRCA 1895-1900. THE DIAL HAS A SQUARED ETCHED BACK PLATE WITH A SILVERED APPLIED CHAPTER RING WITH ARABIC NUMBERS. THE WEIGHTS AND PENDULUM BOB ARE ETCHED IN A MATCHING PATTERN. THE HANDS AND PULLEYS ARE REPLACEMENTS. THE WAIST DOOR IS A SPLIT DOOR WITH THE TOP SECTION HAVING AN 11 PIECE BRASS SET BEVELED GLASS PANEL AND THE BOTTOM SECTION IS ONE SQUARE BRASS SET BEVELED GLASS PIECE.
